There are patients who complain that they have different eye shapes (just one upper eyelid with excess skin, for example). In this specific case, instead of proposing an upper blepharoplasty to remove the excess skin in one of the two eyelids, I prefer to improve symmetry by filling the upper eyelids with a specific hyaluronic acid-based filler. To obtain a perfect and durable fox eye effect, it is often necessary to work on the external corner of the eye by performing a canthoplasty surgery.
In my experience as an oculoplastic surgeon, I use canthoplasty both to raise drooping eyes for the advancing age, or genetic predisposition, but also to tighten and lengthen the eye.
