Eye gaze, Face
It is estimated that nearly nine out of ten people complain of tired and marked by time eyes. Today Oculoplastic surgery allows you to rejuvenate the area peri-ocular (eye and eyelid) and face preserving a natural look, using innovative products that offer visible results and allow to come back to normal activities in a short time.
Platelet rich plasma or PRP, are the most innovative technology in the field of aesthetic medicine.
The PRP allow you to moisturise the area around the eyes and the face without surgery, preserving a natural look and giving tone, firmness and radiance to the skin. Their application proves to be a particularly useful technique to counter the effect of premature skin ageing (photo-ageing), caused by the sun. UV rays can in fact lead to the development of free radicals, which cause the degeneration of the tissues most exposed as the face, neck, cleavage and hands. During the ageing process there is a loss of elasticity of the skin, resulting in wrinkling that is gathered in folds.
A microinjection carried out in the affected area allows to start a genuine process of cell regeneration. PRP are in fact a concentrate of autologous blood that contains a high number of platelets able to favour, by means of the release of growth factors, tissue regeneration. The platelet concentrate is currently used in the solid state (platelet gel) or liquid (for infiltration and eye drops), as regenerating damaged tissues in various fields such as dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, as well as’ in the treatment of skin ulcers chronic. The topical preparation and is’ shown to be effective as an adjuvant of the natural healing process because it promotes and accelerates tissue repair.
The technique consists in centrifuging the blood sample taken from the patient, isolating the platelet-rich plasma, and immediately re-injecting it into the skin of the patient. In the treatment, therefore, no foreign substance is introduced in the body, reducing thus the possibility of unwanted side effects. The immediate and profound hydration is followed by the stimulation of the dermal structures. Biostimulation with PRP is recommended both for young skin (face, neck, décolletage, hands) and mature skins, for instance for the treatment of ageing skin and scars. The treatment can be associated with other therapies of fillers, such as hyaluronic acid or lipofilling.
The final effect is progressive because the cellular activation processes need to be triggered: a few days after the treatment, the skin appears more ‘toned’ in relation to the volume of plasma injected. As the weeks progress, a reduction of the initial slight edema is usually followed by a subjective improvement in brightness, colour as well as firmness of the treated skin. The treatment should be repeated within one month in order to enhance the effects obtained with the previous sessions. The frequency of sessions will depend on the initial characteristics of the skin, the skin type and on the past exposure to the sun. An alternative is the treatment with PRP. This is a rather natural remedy that gives elasticity, firmness and freshness to the eyelid as well as to the periocular region, face, neck and hands.
The new way to naturally rejuvenate the eyes and the face is to use minimally invasive techniques that restore the lost volumes, whilst respecting the tissues and ensuring natural and harmonious results. The lipofilling technique consists in the aspiration of adipose tissue from a donor area (abdomen, inner thigh / knee). The removed fat is then gently centrifuged in order to extract the fat cells and stem cells. These are then reinserted into those areas of the eyelids (circles) and the face (eyebrows, cheekbones, lips, chin, jaw), which presented “tired look” or an undesired look. In fact this is the purpose of Lipofilling: to rejuvenate the face and the look of the eyes with very natural results. Due to ageing, heavy weight loss, trauma, or simply because of one’s own natural body composition, some areas of the face can appear to be empty, without that plumpness that gives sensuality and youth to the eye.
Lipofilling can be performed under local anaesthesia in outpatient clinic or in day hospital.
A visit with an Oculoplastic Surgeon (a surgeon highly specialised in face and eyelids surgery as well as cosmetic medicine) is always required in order to assess the feasibility of the treatment in relation to the individual case. Note that the production and use of autologous PRP for topical use can only be done by specifically trained and responsible professionals, and only in structures that have been granted a specific authorisation.
